WP4 Sources

For my sources, I tried to get perspectives from as many windows as I could have. I got sources that took a look at Trump's acts and how they influenced the safety of many Asian Americans, and sources that looked at the perspectives of Asian Americans.

What I really loved about this approach is that I was able to talk about how the Trump Administration as a whole was a problematic and inaccurate representation of leadership through the way they affected Americans, all because of his pride, which is proven through all my sources.

Here are a few cool ones:

“Beijing opposes Trump's stigmatization of COVID-19 as 'Kung flu.'” CGTN, 22 June 2020, https://news.cgtn.com/news/2020-06-22/Beijing-opposes-Trump-s-stigmatization-of-COVID-19-as-Kung-flu--Rx04AmdEOc/index.html. Accessed 3 December 2021.

Cathey, Libby. “Trump, downplaying virus, has mocked wearing masks for months.” ABC News, 2 October 2020, https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/trump-downplaying-virus-mocked-wearing-masks-months/story?id=73392694. Accessed 3 December 2021.

COHEN, MAX. “Kellyanne Conway reacts to Trump's use of 'kung flu,' months after calling term 'highly offensive.'” Politico, 24 June 2020, https://www.politico.com/news/2020/06/24/kellyanne-conway-trump-kung-flu-coronavirus-337682. Accessed 3 December 2021.

Yam, Kimmy. “Trump can't claim 'Kung Flu' doesn't affect Asian Americans in this climate, experts say.” NBC News, 22 June 2020, https://www.nbcnews.com/news/asian-america/trump-can-t-claim-kung-flu-doesn-t-affect-asian-n1231812. Accessed 3 December 2021.

  1. I agree with the sources provided. Although political views are controversial, the view of how the Trump Administration had excessive pride may contribute to the face that they are wealthy. Wealth have an impact on how people act which can be why there were many problems in this situation.

  2. There will always be a biases in the media about sources, but there seems to be an even neutrality considering the context of the situation. I think Trump is also just a unique individual who has a heavy influence on a great deal of the American population. Judging by the language he uses and the actions he has committed during his presidency and his past, it can be debatable to his degree of leadership. His ideology is definitely interesting, but his reputation as in individual is already corrupted even before his presidency, and Asian Americans deserve some kind of security and reassurance if he wants to exemplify true leadership.
